I present to you “Lost call” a watercolor painting of the ʻalalā, also called the Hawaiian crow. 🙂 This very rare bird is extinct in the wild, but efforts are taken to reintroduce it into it´s natural habitat, which are, you guessed it, the Hawaiian islands. 🙂
This painting was part of a series of 4 key species for the RITZ (Rendesvous at the Zoo) event at the San Diego Zoo in 2023. The four wildlife paintings all sold, contributing to the new Elephant Valley at the zoo, and their partner sanctuary, the community-led Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in northern Kenya.
